He's my buddy, too...

Yesterday, I sent the two Friday-night-regular grandkids home with their dad and went to visit the newest little guy. His dad was working and his mom was housecleaning, so I scooped him up and took him with me. He's just over 4 months old and such a smiling sweety.

I took him to the park and met up with the other two. The second grandson, who is almost 11 months old, was not too excited to see me or his parents holding the little guy at first. He got a little better adjusted to it as the day wore on. For his part, the little guy was trying to be friends. He got the other one's t-shirt in his mouth to chew on it a little, then he reached out to touch him. There's a 10-lb difference between them. I can't tell if the little guy will catch up, but he seems to be doing his best to - he's a big eater.

My dad (Grandad) came out to the park, too. He started out to hold the little guy, but when the other one saw it, he had to get in on the action. Grandad was definitely not complaining! Later, we went by to visit with Granny. On the way home, we stopped so Grandpa could see him, too. When I got him home, he was still so happy, he laughed with his parents all evening!

A spring day in Texas...

People often say that north Texas doesn't have seasons. That's not quite true. They just don't take long to change, sometimes just a day or two. One day it's cold, the next it's in the 80's and spring is on. It's still a few weeks until the official first day of spring, but it was spring in my neighborhood today. The blooming trees were awash in white flowers. The weeping willow was blowsy with soft new green leaves. Sadly some of the post oaks were still holding on to their dried brown dead leaves. The live oaks were still as green as ever and the juniper in my yard has been green all winter, even under the snow last month.

In a few days, our spring weather will probably start up. The wind will blow and it will rain and the blooms will be brushed away along with the dead brown hangers-on, and green leaves will be on the other side of the weather.

Our grandsons loved playing outside today. It was warm in the sunshine, but still a little chilly in the shade. I sat in the middle of the sunshine wrapped up in an afghan. I always want to be outside this time of year. I've bought yard swings and hammocks and shades and such to spend time in the early days of spring. Maybe it's because I was a spring baby.
